"And still, a resonance" is the first recorded collaboration between pianist Marty Hicks and trumpeter Audrey Powne, released on Tokyo-based boutique label aloeswood_records.

A product of Marty and Audrey's close musical companionship that stretches back more than 15 years, "And still, a resonance" brings together original compositions by the two musicians for piano, trumpet and electronics, recorded live in Tokyo over the course of a day.

Sweeping piano gestures compliment subtle brass textures throughout long-form suites such as 'Owlfactory', and soft electronic soundscapes elevate both thundering piano chords and soaring trumpet phrases in 'A Modicum of Hope'.

There are substantial spaces between these carefully places notes and sounds - much like the lost time that has slipped away from these two musicians, living now far away from each other and their home countries - but when the music happens once more, still there is resonance.

‍tracklist:

  1. Owlfactory 9:58

  2. Hold Me (Responsible) 7:34

  3. Interlude: Breaths Before 3:24

  4. A Myriad of Dread 7:18

  5. A Modicum of Hope 6:59
